FAQ

CityHealth’s Mail-In PCR Test is a Molecular Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test.

Samples are developed in our state-of-the-art CLIA-certified Diagnostic Laboratory located in Encino, California.

PCR tests are the “gold standard” of COVID tests and return the most reliable, accurate results.

Yes, the Mail-In PCR Test has received an Emergency-Use Authorization (EUA) from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

CityHealth’s Diagnostic Testing Laboratory, where your sample is tested, is CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) – Certified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The Mail-In PCR Test Kit is a 100% remote, FDA-approved (EUA) PCR test that lets you collect your sample at home and drop it off at your nearest UPS.

Important: Submit your sample as soon as possible after collection. Samples over 24 hours old begin to decay and may not provide results.

Our Mail In PCR Test comes complete with everything you need for Clinic-level accuracy, including a Virtual Visit with a CityHealth testing specialist to confirm your identity and coach you through the easy sample collection process (this helps ensure a sufficient sample size and reduces the likelihood of inconclusive results). No appointment is needed – testing specialists are standing by 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Results are ready within 24 hours of your sample arriving at our very own state-of-the-art CLIA-certified laboratory.

All you need is wifi and a video-enabled device (like a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer with a webcam).

Once your results are ready, you will receive a link via a secure email and text message to view and download your results. As a security feature, you’ll need to enter your name and date of birth to view your results.

Tip: Use the contact information you would like your results sent to. For example, use your cell phone number and a personal email address instead of your office number and work email.

Please allow at least 15-20 minutes for your testing appointment.

Submit your sample as soon as possible after collection.

Results will be ready within 24 hours of your sample arriving at our lab.

Please note that CityHealth can not control UPS courier shipping times. We recommend collecting your sample on a weekday, and timing your sample collection to coincide with UPS pickup schedules to ensure quick delivery and a fresh sample. Samples over 24 hours old begin to decay and may not provide results.

As soon as your sample has been processed, you’ll receive a secure email and text message with a link to view and download your test results, called a Digital Health Certificate.

To keep your data secure, this link will expire in 72 hours. You will need to enter your first name, last name, and date of birth to access your results.

Each Mail-In PCR Test Kit contains 1 complete test kit for one person:

-1 sterile extra soft sample collection swab
-1 sample collection tube
-1 biohazard collection bag
-1 pre-addressed shipping pouch
-1 Sample ID Card to identify your sample
-1 Virtual visit with a Testing Specialist to coach you through sample collection
-1 Digital Health Certificate with your name, passport number (if required for travel), and result of your test.

RapidReturn Kits are shipped from our fulfillment center as quickly as possible, usually within 24-48 hours.

Depending on the shipping option you choose, orders can arrive the next day, in 3-5 business days, or within 5-7 business days.

During your Virtual Visit, the Testing Specialist will ask to see your identification before the test begins to confirm your identity. This is required to issue you a Digital Health Certificate (results form) with your name on it. You can use a passport, driver’s license, or another form of Government-issued ID. If you are using the Mail-In PCR test for travel testing, we recommend using your passport for ID.

The Virtual Visit is a brief encounter with a trained CityHealth Testing Specialist. There is no appointment necessary, and there is no additional cost for this encounter.

The Testing Specialist will meet you live over webcam, so please have your favorite video-enabled device (laptop, smartphone, or tablet) ready when you are ready to collect your sample.

Your sample can still be processed at our lab without the guidance of a Testing Specialist to assist you with sample collection.

However, we very strongly recommend a brief Virtual Visit appointment with a CityHealth testing specialist to collect your sample. Their training, experience, and guidance helps minimize the likelihood of inconclusive test results by ensuring the sample is collected properly.

If you are using the Mail-In PCR Test for travel testing, it is mandatory to meet with the Testing Specialist so they can confirm your identity.

Please be aware that collecting your sample without the guidance of a Testing Specialist increases the likelihood of inconclusive results due to improper sample collection, and CityHealth is not responsible for inconclusive test results.
